Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK Leipzig) was established in 1992, building on its predecessors and continuing a long traditional of scholar in Leipzig, one of the main cities in Eastern Germany. Today with about 6,000 students, HTWK Leipzig ranks among Germany’s largest universities of applied sciences.
Providing practice-oriented education that lead to accredited bachelor’s and master’s degrees is HTWK Leipzig’s trademark feature. All the curricula have been designed preparing students for high-level professional practice in fields such as engineering, business, social science and cultural studies.
Degree programmes in the faculty of architecture and social sciences are architecture (B.A., M.A.) and social work (B.A., M.A.). While the the studies in social work at bachelor’s degree are in a generalistic way, the master’s degree focussed the topics management, planning and research.
