EASSW and Springer proudly announces the publishing of the first book of the new Book Series European Social Work Education and Practice. The book is titled ” European Social Work After 1989: East-West Exchanges Between Universal Principles and Cultural Sensitivity” and is edited by Walter Lorenz, Zuzana Havrdova and Oldrich Matousek.

Publishing the volume this year has underlined the actuality of the topic, not just in view of “30 years after 1989” but because we seem to be experiencing another historical turning point which is highly challenging for social work. The coming together of the crisis of the European unification project, the demise of a commitment to fair welfare policies and not least the Corona crisis have underlined that we need to look very carefully at our shared heritage in Europe and how we can return to the principles of justice and equality, both nationally and globally” declared Walter Lorenz one of the editors of the book.
